The Challenges We Are Facing - A Healthy Lifestyle

It is easy to get motivation for being physically fit -  for some, to live longer to be with their loved ones, or to have the energy to spend more quality time with loved ones - since most of us have to work tirelessly, which ends up physically drained and no energy; or for us singles to have more energy to do things that we enjoy doing like travelling or sports ( I like playing badminton and volleyball and on some occasion, dance). In my experience, being healthy really help me cope up with the young ones during games. And it helps that I look young for my age. 😊😊😊 These activities are physically demanding  and if we are not at our optimum health, we end up easily tired, or worst, we end up passing on our hobbies and recreation. However, more than being physically fit which only focuses, for most people, on the external appearance, it is much more proactive to take care of our internal body. While it going the gym can help improve health (aside from losing weight which in itself have health benefits, it improves heart health, neural function and motor function, among others), I believe being healthy must be a holistic approach.

Most illnesses or diseases today are not merely caused by germs or viruses only, but are also results of collective degeneration and damage of our cells, and we all know that we are made up of cells. Based on recent health studies, the air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we eat contributes to cell degeneration. No one is exempted from exposure to these precursors.

Sadly, we only think of health when we are already sick. We usually consider it as the last priority among our long lists of priorities. I firmly believe that we should change our approach when it comes to health, especially for us, single working professional, working parents and all individuals who have people depending on them to be a provider. A day of sickness means downtime which can affect our productivity and affects income. Good if it is just a day of sickness, it can be worst if it results to an illness or a degenerative disease which can render a person incapable or unfit to work. For some, it will be additional expense for hospitalization and medicines. As the cliche goes, "Prevention is better than cure", prioritizing our health will also be cost-saving in the long run. Imagine, the savings you will have if no one from your family will be hospitalized or will get really sick for a couple of years? The "quality of life" is also dependent on the state of our health. We should change our idea and thinking that being "old" should not be equal to being "sick". Take control of our health.

Do you know how many oranges you need to eat in a day to get the daily recommended dose of  Vitamin C?
Balanced nutrition, physical activities and an overall healthy lifestyle (mental, emotional and spiritual health included) will be an excellent help in avoiding chronic health conditions (even acute and mild ones), and will eventually lead us to a healthier, better quality of life.
